Salary & Pay Scale Details

• Administrative/Police Posts (SDO, DSP, etc.): Level 9 - ₹61,500/- to ₹72,000/- (7th Pay Commission Matrix)
• Field/Welfare Posts (Revenue Officer, RDO, etc.): Level 7 - ₹59,857/- to ₹68,795/-
• Additional Benefits: DA (Currently 60% as of Jan 2026), HRA (Up to 16% depending on city tier), Medical Allowances, Travel Concessions, Official Vehicle/Accommodation (for specific executive roles), and Pension (NPS).
• Job Security: Elite State Gazetted Class-II officer positions with topmost administrative authority, legal protections, and long-term career safety.
• Career Growth: Regular promotions based on service duration and performance evaluation. An SDO can rise to Additional Collector, and a DSP can be promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP) cadres over time.

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Exam (Screening Only)

• Format: Offline OMR-based test containing 150 Objective Questions.
• Marks: 150 Marks (1 mark per question).
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) marks will be deducted for each incorrect response.
• Content: General Studies (History, Bihar GK, Geography, Economy, Science, and Mental Ability).

Main Examination (Written Descriptive)

• General Hindi: 100 Marks (Qualifying nature, minimum 30% needed).
• General Studies Paper-I: 300 Marks (Evaluated for merit).
• General Studies Paper-II: 300 Marks (Evaluated for merit).
• Essay Paper: 300 Marks (Evaluated for merit).
• Optional Subject: 100 Marks (Objective MCQ layout, qualifying nature only).

Personal Interview

• Marks: 120 Marks.
• Final Merit list: Calculated using the Mains written score (900) + Interview score (120) = 1,020 total marks.

Exam Centers

• Bihar: Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and other major districts
• Center Allocation: Allocated as per candidate's preference and availability
• Admit Card will mention exact center details
