Post-wise Work Profile

The duties are divided into administrative management, field delivery, and technical support:

  • Branch Postmaster (BPM):


    • Team Lead: Acts as the head of the Gramin Dak Seva Branch Office (BO).
    • Management: Handles day-to-day postal operations and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) transactions using handheld devices/smartphones.
    • Business Procurement: Responsible for marketing postal products (insurance, savings schemes) and organizing "Melas" to promote government services in the village.
    • Records: Maintains office records and ensures smooth mail conveyance and delivery.
  • Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM):


    • Operations: Assists the BPM in counter duties and managing the Customer Service Centre (CSC).
    • Delivery & Marketing: Responsible for the sale of stamps/stationery and doorstep delivery of mail.
    • Backup: Required to perform the duties of the BPM in their absence.
  • Dak Sevak:


    • Logistics: Engaged in Sub-Post Offices or Head Post Offices.
    • Mail Handling: Handles receipt, dispatch, and transshipment of mailbags.
    • RMS Support: May be required to work in Railway Mail Service (RMS) sorting offices.
    • Customer Service: Performs doorstep delivery and IPPB transactions as assigned by the Postmaster.
