Age Limit & Selection Process
- Age Limit: B.Des and B.F.Tech : below 24 years as on 01/08/2027 (SC / ST / PwD : 5 years relaxation). M.Des, M.F.M and M.F.Tech : no age limit.
- Selection Process: Entrance Exam (GAT, plus CAT for B.Des and M.Des) → Situation Test (B.Des) or Personal Interview (PG) → Common Merit Rank → NIFT Seat Allocation.

- Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply; proof of passing is needed at seat allocation.
- Seats include 480 State Domicile seats, e.g. at Varanasi, Patna, Bhopal and Jodhpur, for those who passed 12th in that state.

Other Admission Categories
- NLEA (Lateral Entry) : diploma holders join the 3rd semester of B.Des or B.F.Tech; 401 tentative seats.
- Artisans : B.Des for artisans or their children with an Artisan Card; Artisan Skill Test and Interview.
- NRI / Foreign National / OCI / SAARC : no entrance exam; merit on SAT, GMAT or GRE score.
- Ph.D. : Written Test and Research Proposal Presentation and Interview, both held by NIFT.

- Duration : B.Des and B.F.Tech 4 years; M.Des, M.F.M and M.F.Tech 2 years
- Campuses : 20 NIFT campuses across India
- Tuition Fee (2027-28) : ₹1,50,000/- per semester
- Semester 1 Total (with registration fee and refundable security deposit) : ₹1,91,700/-
- NRI Fee, First Year : ₹10,19,900/- or ₹7,22,100/-, by campus

Exam Pattern
- Marking : +1 for a right answer, -0.25 for a wrong answer; GAT on computer, CAT on paper; Hindi and English

- B.Des : GAT 100 Questions, 120 minutes + CAT 3 Questions, 180 minutes
- B.Des Weightage : GAT 30%, CAT 50%, Situation Test 20%
- B.F.Tech : GAT Section A 100 Questions (120 minutes) + Section B 50 Questions (60 minutes)
- B.F.Tech Weightage : Section A 30%, Section B 70%

- M.Des : GAT 120 Questions, 120 minutes + CAT, 180 minutes
- M.Des Weightage : GAT 30%, CAT 40%, Interview 30%
- M.F.M : GAT 150 Questions, 180 minutes; GAT 70%, Interview 30%

Application Process
- Open the NIFTEE portal and pick the right form: UG and PG, NLEA, Artisans, NRI or Ph.D.
- Register with your own mobile number and email (MeriPehchaan sign-on also works) and note the Application Number.
- Log in, fill in your details, choose one or two programmes and four exam cities.
- Take a live photo by webcam or phone, then upload a photo (10–200 KB JPG, white background) and signature (10–50 KB JPG).
- PwD candidates upload the UDID card or disability certificate as a PDF of 50–300 KB.
- Pay the fee online by debit card, credit card, UPI or net banking; submit only one form.
- Print the Confirmation Page; changes are possible only in the correction window.
