Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • Grade: Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I)
  • Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – 2000/7 – 62,480 – 2340/2 – 67,160 – 2680/7 – 85,920
  • Initial Basic Pay: ₹48,480
  • Advance Increments: Candidates receive 2 advance increments at the time of joining for their 2+ years of prior officer experience, bringing the effective starting basic pay closer to ₹52,480.
  • Additional Benefits: DA, HRA (depending on posting), Special & Learning Allowance, Petrol Allowance, Medical Facility, LFC, PF, NPS, Concessional Loans, Banking Perks,

Exam Pattern

Phase 1: Online Examination (170 Marks Total)

The exam is divided into two parts and is conducted in a single session.


A. Objective Test (120 Marks)

  • Total Duration: 2 Hours (Each section has individual timing).
  • Negative Marking: NONE (No penalty for wrong answers).
  • Sectional Cut-off: NONE (You only need an overall aggregate score).
  • English Language: 30 Questions | 30 Marks | 30 Minutes
  • Banking Knowledge: 40 Questions | 40 Marks | 40 Minutes
  • General Awareness/Economy: 30 Questions | 30 Marks | 30 Minutes
  • Computer Aptitude: 20 Questions | 20 Marks | 20 Minutes

B. Descriptive Test (50 Marks)

  • Timing: Starts immediately after the objective test.
  • Duration: 30 Minutes.
  • Mode: Typing on a computer.
  • Task 1: Letter Writing (1 Question) | 25 Marks
  • Task 2: Essay Writing (1 Question) | 25 Marks

Phase 2: Screening

  • Nature: Document/Experience Check.
  • Details: A committee verifies your 2-year officer experience and checks if your job profile matches a "Scale-I Generalist Officer" at SBI. If it doesn't match, you're out.

Phase 3: Interview (50 Marks)

  • Shortlisting: Based on the online test merit (roughly 3 times the vacancies).
  • Qualifying: You must score minimum qualifying marks in the interview as decided by SBI.

Phase 4: Local Language Test

  • Nature: Qualifying only.
  • Exemption: You don't need this if you studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard (you'll need the marksheet as proof).

Final Selection Calculation

The final merit list is prepared by merging the Online Exam and Interview scores with a 75:25 weightage:

  • Online Exam (170 marks): Converted to a scale of 75.
  • Interview (50 marks): Converted to a scale of 25.
  • Total: Merit is out of 100 marks.
