  • The SSC JHT (Junior Hindi Translator) 2026 recruitment is a two-tier process designed to select translation experts for Central Government departments. The official notification (Advt No. HQ-PPI03/3/2026-PP-1) was released on April 23, 2026.


    Eligibility & Educational Qualifications

    To be eligible, you must meet one of the following criteria (as of August 1, 2026):

    • Option 1: Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level.

    • Option 2: Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level.

    • Option 3: Master’s degree in any subject (other than Hindi/English) with Hindi medium and English as a subject/medium at the degree level (or vice versa).

    • Mandatory Requirement: In addition to the Master’s, you must have:

      • A Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa.

      • OR Two years’ experience of translation work in a Central or State Government office.


    Detailed Syllabus & Exam Pattern

    The examination consists of two papers followed by Document Verification (DV).

    Paper I: Computer Based Examination (Objective Type)

    • General Hindi (100 Marks): Antonyms, Synonyms, Phrases/Idioms, Proverbs, Sandhi, Samas, Kriya Visheshan, and Reading Comprehension.

    • General English (100 Marks): Error Recognition, Fill in the Blanks, Articles, Verbs, Prepositions, Spelling Test, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Sentence Structure.

    • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

    Paper II: Descriptive Type (Pen & Paper Mode)

    • Translation (2 Passages):

      • One passage for translation from Hindi to English.

      • One passage for translation from English to Hindi.

    • Essay Writing (2 Essays):

      • One essay in Hindi.

      • One essay in English.

    • Goal: To test the candidate's translation skills and their ability to write and comprehend the two languages correctly and effectively.

  • General English: 100 Questions | 100 Marks

Paper II: Descriptive Test (Pen & Paper)

  • Translation & Essay: 200 Marks
    • Translation: Two passages (one Hindi to English, one English to Hindi).
    • Essay: One essay in Hindi and one in English.
  • Duration: 2 Hours
