Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • Stenographer Grade C: Level 6 – ₹35,400 - 1,12,400/- (7th Pay Commission)
  • Stenographer Grade D: Level 4 – ₹25,500 - 81,100/- (7th Pay Commission)

Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam: Computer Based Examination (CBT).
  • Total Questions: 200 Questions.
  • Total Marks: 200 Marks.
  • Duration: 120 Minutes (2 Hours).
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 (1/4th) marks for each incorrect answer.
  • Subject-wise Breakdown:
    • English Language & Comprehension: 100 Questions (Most Important)
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions
    • General Awareness: 50 Questions

Skill Test (Stage 2: Shorthand)

Candidates who qualify the written test must pass the Stenography test:

  • Grade C: 100 Words Per Minute (w.p.m.) for 10 minutes.
  • Grade D: 80 Words Per Minute (w.p.m.) for 10 minutes.
  • Transcription: Candidates transcribe the dictation on a computer.

Exam Centers

  • All India: Major Cities in All States (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, etc.)
  • Center Allocation: Based on Candidate's 1st, 2nd, 3rd Preference
  • Candidates must choose centers anywhere in India
