Selection Process

There is no written examination and no interview for these posts. The entire process is 100% merit-based, calculated from academic marks.

Merit Calculation Formula

The merit list is prepared by the District Programme Officer (DPO) based on the percentage of marks obtained in your educational qualifications.

  • Anganwadi Worker: Points are calculated from High School (10th), Intermediate (12th), and Graduation.
  • Anganwadi Helper: Points are calculated from 5th Class (minimum) up to 10th.
  • Calculation Method: Your percentage is divided by 10 to get your "Merit Points."
    • Example: If a candidate has 80% in 10th, they get 8.0 points.
    • Higher education (Post-Graduation) may provide additional weightage in some districts, but the core merit comes from the 10th and 12th results.

Selection Priority (The Tie-Breaker)

If two candidates have the same merit score, the selection follows a strict "Priority Order" based on social and economic status:

  • Widow (Highest Priority)
  • Divorced/Legally Separated Woman
  • Destitute/BPL Family Member
  • Reserved Categories (SC >> ST >> OBC >> EWS)
  • General Category Married Woman

Mandatory Eligibility Rules

  • Residency: This is the most common reason for rejection. The candidate must be a permanent resident of the same Gram Panchayat (rural) or Ward (urban) where the vacancy exists.
  • Gender: Strictly for Female candidates only.
  • Age (2026 Cycle): 18 >> 35 Years (some districts follow 21–45, so candidates should check their specific district notification).

Verification Centers

  • Uttar Pradesh: Block / District Level CDPO / DPO Offices
  • Center Allocation: As per Applied Village / Ward / Gram Panchayat
  • Document Verification at Local ICDS Project Offices
