Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • LECTURER: Level 8 - ₹47,600 - ₹1,51,100/- (7th Pay Commission)
  • Additional Benefits: DA, HRA (as per city type: 24% for Class X, 16% for Class Y, 8% for Class Z), Medical Allowance, Travel Allowance (TA), Pension under National Pension System (NPS), Group Insurance
  • Estimated Monthly Gross Salary: ₹82,000 - ₹87,000/- per month (varies based on the city of posting due to HRA tiering).
  • Estimated In-Hand Salary: ₹71,000 - ₹75,000/- per month after standard NPS contribution and tax deductions.
  • Job Security: Premium Gazetted Officer (Group 'B') status under the Department of Secondary Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Career Growth: Regular promotions based on performance, seniority, and clearing departmental examinations. The career ladder moves as follows:
    • Lecturer (GIC) | Vice-Principal (GIC) | Principal (Government Inter College / GGIC) | Block Education Officer (BEO) | District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) / Regional Assistant Director.

Exam Pattern

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • Exam Nature: Offline Test (OMR Sheet / Pen-and-Paper based multiple choice questions).
  • Purpose: Qualifying screening test to shortlist candidates for the Mains. Marks do not count toward final merit.
  • Total Questions in Paper: 120 Questions.
    • Optional Core Subject: 80 Questions.
    • General Studies: 40 Questions.
  • Maximum Marks: 300 Marks.
  • Exam Duration: 2 Hours (120 Minutes).
  • Negative Marking Penalty: Strict 1/3rd (0.33) mark deduction for every incorrect response. Leaving a question blank results in 0 marks.

Stage 2: Main Examination (Descriptive Written)

  • Exam Nature: Descriptive and analytical pen-and-paper written test.
  • Number of Compulsory Papers: 2 Distinct Papers.
  • Total Combined Marks: 400 Marks (This score dictates the final job placement merit list).

Paper 1: General Hindi & Essay Writing

  • Exam Nature: Descriptive language testing.
  • Total Marks: 100 Marks.
    • Section A (General Hindi): 50 Marks (Grammar, comprehension, idioms, punctuation, and sentence corrections).
    • Section B (Hindi Essay): 50 Marks (One essay to be selected and drafted within a 1,000-word limit from 6 specified socio-economic and political themes).
  • Exam Duration: 2 Hours.

Paper 2: Optional Subject (Concerned Post Specialization)

  • Exam Nature: Descriptive, advanced subject-specific answer writing based on postgraduate syllabus.
  • Total Marks: 300 Marks.
  • Question Layout: 20 Compulsory Descriptive Questions divided across long-answer, short-answer, and very-short-answer blocks.
  • Exam Duration: 3 Hours.

Admit Card Download Process & Instructions

  • Admit Card Release: Expected 5-7 days before exam on official UPPSC website
  • Download Process: Visit uppsc.up.nic.in, login with Registration Number and Password, download and print admit card
  • Important Instructions: Carry printed admit card, valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID), reach exam center 1 hour before; No electronic devices allowed
  • Document Requirements: Printed admit card, original photo ID proof, recent passport size photo
  • Next Stage: Candidates qualifying prelims will be called for Mains Exam
