Salary & Pay Scale Details- PCS Posts: Level 10 – ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500/- (7th Pay Commission)

Exam Pattern- Mode of Exam: Offline (Pen-paper using OMR sheets)
- Negative Marking: 1/3 rd (0.33%) mark deduction for every incorrect answer.
- Paper I: General Studies (GS I)
- Questions: 150 MCQs
- Marks: 200 marks
- Duration: 2 hours
- Purpose: Determines the cutoff rank for entry into the Mains exam.
- Paper II: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)
- Questions: 100 MCQs
- Marks: 200 marks
- Duration: 2 hours
- Purpose: Purely qualifying in nature. Candidates must secure a minimum of 33% marks (66 out of 200) to clear it.
Stage 2: Main Examination (Written / Descriptive Type) - Total Papers: 8 descriptive papers
- Total Marks: 1500 marks
- Duration: 3 hours per paper

- Paper 1: General Hindi - 150 Marks (Marks are counted toward final merit).
- Paper 2: Essay - 150 Marks (3 essays of 700 words each).

- Paper 7: General Studies V (UP Specific) - 200 Marks (History, Polity, and Social Structure of Uttar Pradesh).
- Paper 8: General Studies VI (UP Specific) - 200 Marks (Economy, Geography, and Current Developments of Uttar Pradesh).
Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview) - Maximum Marks: 100 marks
- Evaluation: Tests character, expression, general awareness, intelligence, and overall suitability for civil services administration.
