Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination 2027 under Advertisement No. 01/2027-GEOL. The recruitment is being conducted for 127 posts in various positions. The notification was released on September 2, 2026, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 10, 2027.

Salary & Pay Scale Details Pay Scale Hierarchy: As per the 7th Pay Commission guidelines, selected candidates join at Academic/Executive Pay Level 10 in the pay matrix. Base Entry Pay: ₹56,100/- per month (Pay Band: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500). Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), Special Allowances, Field Duty Allowances and camping provisions during active remote survey operations. Gross Monthly Salary: The initial gross salary at the time of joining ranges between ₹95,000/- to ₹1,05,000/- per month, depending heavily on the class of the city posting and active DA percentages. Deductions: Standard statutory deductions apply under the National Pension System (NPS), Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), and Group Insurance (CGEGIS). Additional Benefits: Perks include complete comprehensive medical facilities under CGHS for self and dependents, Government accommodation/quarters (subject to availability), Leave Travel Concession (LTC), and encashment benefits.
