Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • Pay Scale Hierarchy: As per the 7th Pay Commission guidelines, selected candidates join at Pay Matrix Level 10 as Junior Time Scale officers.
  • Base Entry Pay: ₹56,100/- per month (Pay Band: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500).
  • Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA)
  • Deductions: Standard statutory deductions apply under the National Pension System (NPS), Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), and Group Insurance (CGEGIS).
  • Additional Benefits: Perks include comprehensive medical facilities under CGHS for self and dependents, Government accommodation/quarters (subject to availability), Leave Travel Concession (LTC), and encashment benefits.
  • Job Classification & Security: Permanent, Central Government Group ‘A’ Gazetted (Class-I) positions with clear promotional pathways to Senior Time Scale, Junior Administrative Grade, and Higher Administrative Grade (up to Managing Director/Advisor levels in central ministries).

Exam Pattern

  • Exam Mode: Offline, conventional pen-and-paper written test requiring handwritten descriptive answers.
  • Total Papers: 2 Compulsory Papers (Paper-I and Paper-II).
  • Total Marks: 600 Marks (300 Marks per paper).
  • Total Duration: 6 Hours (3 Hours allocated for each paper, administered across two separate shifts on the same day).
  • Testing Medium: The question papers are printed in English, and answers must be written strictly in the English language only.

  • Discipline Specific Evaluation Matrix: Both papers focus entirely on the core engineering branch selected by the candidate during application:
    • Civil Engineering: Civil Engineering Paper I (300 Marks / 3 Hours) & Paper II (300 Marks / 3 Hours)
    • Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical Engineering Paper I (300 Marks / 3 Hours) & Paper II (300 Marks / 3 Hours)
    • Electrical Engineering: Electrical Engineering Paper I (300 Marks / 3 Hours) & Paper II (300 Marks / 3 Hours)
    • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering: Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Paper I (300 Marks / 3 Hours) & Paper II (300 Marks / 3 Hours)
  • Subsequent Stage: Marks scored in this Stage-II Main examination are added to the Stage-I Preliminary scores to shortlist candidates for the final Stage-III Personality Test / In-person Interview (200 Marks).
