Salary & Pay Scale Details

  • Base Pay Scale: Junior Time Scale (Academic Pay Level 10) – ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500/- under the 7th Pay Commission.
  • Gross In-Hand Salary: Approximately ₹90,000/- to ₹1,10,000/- per month depending heavily on the class of city posting and current Dearness Allowance (DA).
  • Allowances & Benefits: Level-10 entitlements including DA, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), CGHS medical facilities, and Central Government Group ‘A’ Gazetted perks.

Exam Pattern

Indian Economic Service (IES) – 1000 Marks (All Descriptive)

  • Exam Mode: Offline, conventional descriptive pen-and-paper written test.
  • Language Medium: English language only.
  • Paper Breakdown (3 Hours duration per shift):
    1. General English: 100 Marks (3 Hours)
    2. General Studies: 100 Marks (3 Hours)
    3. General Economics-I: 200 Marks (3 Hours)
    4. General Economics-II: 200 Marks (3 Hours)
    5. General Economics-III: 200 Marks (3 Hours)
    6. Indian Economics: 200 Marks (3 Hours)

Indian Statistical Service (ISS) — 1000 Marks (Mixed Objective/Descriptive)

  • Exam Mode: Mixed. Paper I and II are Objective (MCQ) sheets, while Paper III and IV are conventional descriptive answer booklets.
  • Negative Marking Penalty: For Paper I & II, a deduction of 1/3rd (0.33) marks applies for every incorrect answer.
  • Paper Breakdown:
    1. General English (Descriptive): 100 Marks | 3 Hours
    2. General Studies (Descriptive): 100 Marks | 3 Hours
    3. Statistics-I (Objective MCQs): 200 Marks | 2 Hours
    4. Statistics-II (Objective MCQs): 200 Marks | 2 Hours
    5. Statistics-III (Descriptive): 200 Marks | 3 Hours
    6. Statistics-IV (Descriptive): 200 Marks | 3 Hours (Candidates choose 2 subsections from a set of specialized operations, computing, or demographic modules)

Stage II: Personality Test / Interview (200 Marks)

  • Candidates who filter past the aggregate cut-off benchmarks of the 1000-mark written exams are shortlisted for the interview round
